CI Patient Engagement Hackfest

September 19, 2014 - September 21, 2014

Stanford University

Entrepreneurs, physicians, designers, scientists, and those simply wanting to make a difference… we invite you!

Intel-GE Care Innovations™, in collaboration with MIT Hacking Medicine and StartX, is hosting the CI Patient Engagement Hackfest at Stanford University this September. By bringing together inventive, forward-thinking minds to change the status quo and create the next generation of solutions in healthcare today, our goal is for the seamless integration of data from the home with claims and EMR data to help clinicians and other healthcare providers design and implement population health programs that work and give people the confidence to live independently, wherever they call home. This event will solve one of the biggest hurdles in healthcare today: connecting patients to their health and healthcare providers outside of a hospital or physician’s office.

The divide between patients and their health and healthcare providers is a massive gap in the effort to improve the quality and cost efficiency of healthcare. Though technology and information are pervasive, connections that create lasting behavior change and more informed clinical care are inadequate.

What will we solve?

Hackers will find answers in two categories. First, in motivating, educating and driving patient behavior change in areas where individuals commonly struggle. Second, solutions for obtaining consistent, reliable health and behavioral data from the home, which has largely been an untapped frontier in the land of healthcare information and delivery. Today, most clinicians have a limited or inaccurate view of the daily lives of their patients, which inhibits the advancement of effective, cost-efficient care.

What’s the ultimate benefit?

The fresh and innovative thinking from the hackathon will serve as building blocks to help MIT Hacking Medicine, StartX and Intel-GE Care Innovations™ advance care, strengthen the connection – with informed and actionable insights – between providers, payers, caregivers and consumers, and bring the care continuum to the home.
